Arlington County’s Department of Real Estate Assessments (DREA) collects and analyzes income & expense information for the annual reassessment of real estate. Under the authority of the Code of Virginia (58.1-3294), DREA requests that owners of income-producing real estate in Arlington County submit statements of the income and expenses attributable to the property over the previous year (January 1st to December 31st) for each such parcel of real estate.
The income and expense survey information provided will be kept confidential in accordance with Virginia Code 58.1-3. If there is a willful failure to furnish statements of income and expenses in a timely manner to the department, the owner of such parcel of real estate shall be deemed to have waived his or her right in any proceeding contesting the assessment to utilize such income and expenses as evidence of fair market value (Code of Virginia 15.2-716).).
All income and expense statements must be certified with the signature of the owner, an officer of the corporation, or the duly authorized agent of the owner.
